International performances

DANCING WITH THE DEAD and DO AS I SAY have had the honor of being part of prestigious international festivals Horsens Teaterfestival in Denmark and the NAKS Festival in Tartu, Estonia. These performances have allowed us to share our artistic vision with a broader audience and foster meaningful connections across borders.

We are incredibly proud that our productions have been featured at these renowned festivals. It is a testament to our commitment to exploring and presenting complex and thought-provoking themes through the medium of performing arts. DANCING WITH THE DEAD offers a profound reflection on life and death, while DO AS I SAY sheds light on the dynamics of power and obedience in a way that challenges and engages the audience.

Participating in these festivals has also been an invaluable opportunity to connect with fellow artists, organizers, and, most importantly, audiences, whose feedback and inspiration have been priceless. We look forward to continuing this journey, bringing these productions to new stages and festivals around the world.

The Game – a commission for Holstebro Dansekompagni

In The Game the young audience take part as game pieces in a giant life-size board game. A gamemaster and 4 dancers guide the audience through the game of life. Inspired by young people’s stories, THE GAME is based on the worry and anxiety that more and more young people experience today. A performance that doesn’t stroke the audience by the hair, but takes the young people seriously  and gives them their own space for magnificent and sensory experiences.

The Game will premiere April 19th in Holstebro and perform on Aprilfestivalen April 23d.

KOLONISTERNA

KOLONISTERNA premiered the 24 of November at Bastionen, Malmö. After almost one year of research and creation it was a fantastic moment to meet the audience, especially in the school shows. We got some fantastic feedback both from teachers, students and critics.

Anne Middelboe Christensen, Teateravisen:The consequences of colonization are one of the most urgent these years, when we in the Nordic countries are trying to face up to our own unpleasant history as colonists. Therefore, it is wonderful that KOLONISTERNA succeed so intensely as a current, dark dance of conscience with this multi-ethnic post-colonialist look at the past. Alongside the sensation of an authoritative leader’s grip on the shoulder.

Teacher from Rytmus in Malmö:Thanks again for the show yesterday. All the students loved it and were very touched. As I mentioned, they have just studied colonialism and expressed that they gained a deeper understanding thanks to the performance.

Audience impression: “I think the show was incredible. What I really liked was how powerful it was, it was impressive. As an audience member, I really felt the power and control the dancers had, integrating with the audience. You felt it more like it was real. I felt powerless myself by the dancers and I think the message came across more when you get to feel for yourself what you wanted to convey. Very nicely illustrated.”

Student from Pauliskolan:  “The first impression I got when entering the room was an eerie/mysterious feeling. After being seated I noticed the performers outfits and was really impressed as the fashion really added to the experience. The performance as a whole was very intriguing and intimate as it involved the audience whilst also retaining the mystery of the performance. A moment that I remembered was when the performers dropped the large “divider” which revealed the performer in a very beautiful way. I think that the biggest impression on me was the unique ambience and feeling that I got out of all the aspects combined such as things like the music, outfits, eye contact etc. I left the performance feeling positively surprised and also a feeling of refreshment as it was truly an experience that I never had before.”

#10duet10days audition

The wait is over! Bobbi Lo Produktion is now presenting a new exciting project on Instagram; #10duets10days, premiering 17th of March 2023.

In #10duets10days Bobbi Lo Produktion will present one duet every day over the course of 10 days, live on Instagram. Each duet is a combination of physical improvisation and verbal instructions, given by the choreographers Lava Markusson and Michael Tang. While improvising together, the dancers will be receiving individual verbal instructions through headphones.

We are looking for duos consisting of two dancers that already know each other, and are familiar working together. You need to apply as a duo – you can NOT apply alone!
Both dancers should have a strong presence, excellent improvisation skills and versatility, and be interested in exploring the body and movement in a new way and to connect with the audience through the screen.

As a duo you will be working artistically, choosing your own location and costume for the performance, in collaboration with the choreographers. You will be using your own device to record and share your duet, with help from the Bobbi Lo Produktion team.

The live duet will be 5 minutes long and there are no rehearsals before the performance.
You have to be open, present and adaptable.

Premiere and review of Reali-tea

Reali-tea premiered 2 of August in Galleri CC, Malmö

Excerpt from the review in Skånska Dagbladet:

“Intimacy and presence
New exciting scenes are created all the time. The rooms are warmed by the audience and the dancers’ bodies. You see beads of sweat on their foreheads. The dance is intense, very physical and expressive. The dancers look us in the eyes as they pass, and create closeness and presence. We are in Wonderland for better or for worse.

Although they do not really stick to Lewis Carroll’s classic, rather it is a loose interpretation. Yet it is clearly felt with its surrealism and lack of logic. Everything is distorted and the charismatic and energetic dance amplifies the emotions. It’s unpleasant, dark, happy, incomprehensible and humorous – just really good.

Together with the other dancers, Bobbi Lo Produktion have created a choreography that works in the small rooms. And they do that with honor. So I say one thing, keep an eye out for Bobbi Lo production in the future. I know I will.”

#10duets10days

We are so happy to announce that our new digital piece #10duets10days will premiere in the spring 2023 with support by Swedish arts council and the fund for Danish-Swedish cooperation. The piece will be inspired by the time we are in, where our physical relationships has been translated into digital spaces. After a long time with social distancing and restrictions on how we move in public spaces, #10duets10days works with closeness as a theme. The composition is put together in the moment, two dancers in the same room receive unknown instructions in their headsets, the instructions the dancers receive are not the same, but are composed/choreographed so that they get a strong emotional and physical relationship. Stay tuned for more information in the fall 2022!
